Did you see the latest Google search bar news? Google have been utilising AI snippets in search for a while, but their New Era announcement is one step closer for the AI Mode to replace the traditional search we are used to.

Firstly this new update puts Gemini 3.5 directly in the traditional Google search bar, giving users prompts for longer tail conversational searches and a means to get their answers directly there This means users are encouraged to stay in Google and get their answers from AI mentions and citations. This is a further step to the zero-click future of search.

Not only this, but Google announced search agents. A tool to enable an AI agent to continuously scan the internet for you and give you updates or alerts if you’re looking for particular items.

What can you do as a small business?

Being ready for AI search is an opportunity reflective of the early SEO days. In reality only a small percentage of businesses will actively work on this before the masses do at a time it becomes harder.
